Alphonce Omija Itching to Get Revenge for Gor Mahia Against Nairobi United With Tunisian Club
Harambee Stars defender Alphonce Omija is looking forward to a clash against Nairobi United with his Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Etoile du Sahel will take on Nairobi United in the second preliminary round of the competition and that puts Omija on a collision course with a team that inflicted pain on him over three months ago.
This is because Nairobi United qualified for the continental competition after beating Gor Mahia in the FKF Cup final in June and Omija was part of the K’Ogalo team that lost the match.

Having earned a move abroad, Omija will now be looking to get his revenge somewhat when the two sides clash with Naibois set to host the first leg in Nairobi on October 17.
“I am excited first because I will be in line to make my debut after finally being registered. I missed the first registration period because I joined the club when it was closed already,” Omija told Telecomasia.
Omija Cannot Wait to Face Naibois
“Secondly, it is exciting to play against my home country team. Of course, the last time I faced them, it didn’t end up well but hopefully this time, I will come off the winning side.
“It will be a great match because Nairobi United are a fairly good side and will give us a good challenge. But our focus as a team is to make the group stages of the competition.”
The nine-time Tunisian champions qualified for the second round after beating Al-Ahli Wad Medani from Sudan 3-1 on aggregate but Omija was not part of the squad as his signing took place when the squad for the first preliminary round had been submitted.
He will hope to make a mark in the second round as Etoile du Sahel, who won the Confederation Cup in 2006 and 2015, look to make it to the group stages.
Nairobi United, meanwhile, went through on the away goals rule after a 3-3 draw with Ugandan club NEC FC but this is their first taste of continental football.
