Arsenal, Chelsea can't win Champions League - Kane names 5 teams that can challenge Bayern Munich
Harry Kane has outlined the five clubs he believes will pose the biggest threat to Bayern Munich in this season’s UEFA Champions League but left out Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
The England captain, fresh from lifting the German Super Cup following Bayern’s win over Stuttgart on Saturday, is confident the Bavarians will be among the frontrunners for European glory in 2026.
What Kane said
Speaking to Marca, Kane said, “I think this Champions League is going to be similar to every year. We will be one of the favourites PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Liverpool… All the big teams will have their eyes on the trophy.
He added, “There’s still a long way from now until that final. We’re looking forward to the draw at the end of the month to see who we’ll play in the league phase. Step by step, we’re trying to move in the right direction.”
Kane’s omission of Arsenal, who reached last season’s semi-finals, is a notable snub, particularly given Mikel Arteta’s side have strengthened their squad over the summer and are tipped as dark horses in Europe.
For now, Kane insists Bayern’s focus is firmly on the Bundesliga, “We’re more focused on the Bundesliga now. We have a big game at the Allianz Arena to start the season on Friday night. We need to show what we showed [against Stuttgart], the attitude and desire to go out there and be hungry to try to put ourselves in a good place in the league.”
Kane can't wait to lift the Champions League trophy when the continent's most prestigious football competition resumes.
