Arsenal suffer transfer blow as Victor Osimhen alternative deemed too expensive
Arsenal's pursuit of Newcastle star Alexander Isak is set to end in disappointment with the Magpies slapping a staggering £150 million price tag on the 25-year-old striker.
According to The Daily Mail, this valuation makes Isak too expensive for the Gunners, who are in desperate need of an elite No.9.
The Gunners will need to pay a British-record transfer fee, making it unlikely that Arsenal will be able to secure Isak's services in the summer transfer window.
Isak has been in scintillating form, winning December's Premier League Player of the Month award and netting eight goals and two assists in six outings.
His latest goal came against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, where Newcastle secured a 2-0 win in the League Cup semifinals.
Despite Mikel Arteta's admiration for Isak, it appears that the Sweden international will be staying at Newcastle for the time being.
The Magpies are keen to tie Isak down to a new contract, but talks have stalled with his current deal set to expire in 2028.
