Liverpool will have the opportunity to maintain their top spot in the Premier League for another week if they can pick up a positive result against Arsenal at the Emirates.

The Reds are coming off a 1-0 victory against Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, while they picked up a 2-1 win against Chelsea in their last Premier League fixture.

Arsenal, on the other hand, lost for the first time this season after falling to a 2-0 defeat away at Bournemouth last weekend. 

However, the Gunners bounced back in the UCL with a 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. 

Arsenal have prevailed in the last two Premier League meetings between both sides at the Emirates and are unbeaten in four against the Reds in the Premier League.

However, Liverpool’s only victory in this fixture in recent years came at the Emirates in January's FA Cup third-round tie. 

Arsenal face a defensive crisis ahead of Liverpool's visit as William Saliba is banned following his red card against Bournemouth last time out.

Kieran Tierney's absence, Takehiro Tomiyasu's injury, and Riccardo Calafiori's setback leave Arteta shorthanded in defence. 

Jurrien Timber and Bukayo Saka's fitness is uncertain, while Martin Odegaard is definitely out.

Liverpool also have injury concerns with Alisson Becker being sidelined, which leaves Caoimhin Kelleher impressed in midweek. 

Harvey Elliott and Diogo Jota are out, while Federico Chiesa and Conor Bradley are doubtful.
