Both players have an attacking mindset, are 31 years old, and their contracts with Liverpool and Aston Villa, respectively, run until 2026.

The club has reportedly set their sights on the two experienced players, but choosing between them is proving difficult, according to Marca, via Sportal.

Robertson is a proven player with a rich history, while Digne is currently in top form. Both are reliable options, but choosing the right fit for Atletico presents a challenge.

Robertson's eight years as Liverpool's starting left-back under Jurgen Klopp are his strongest asset. The Scotsman is among the defenders with the most assists in Premier League history (60), surpassed only by Ashley Young (74) and teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold (64).

However, his performance last season is a cause for concern – only two assists (one in the league and one in the Champions League) in 45 matches.

In contrast, Lucas Digne, after making his name at Everton, has reached his full potential at Aston Villa. His stats from last Premier League season speak for themselves: he's the only defender who comes close to Alexander-Arnold in terms of chances created – 15 for each.

The Frenchman even created more chances than more attacking players like Matheus Cunha (13), Martin Odegaard (13), and Dominik Szoboszlai (13).

Lucas Digne for Aston Villa

After two years out of the national team, Didier Deschamps recalled Digne to the French squad. The defender registered four assists in six Nations League matches, competing with Theo Hernandez for the starting spot.

Despite his attacking prowess, Digne has also improved defensively since leaving Barcelona, which is why Deschamps prefers him to Hernandez when seeking more stability at the back.

Andrea Berta faces a dilemma: bet on Robertson's experience and authority or on Digne's resurgence. At the same time, he must also consider which of the two deals – with Liverpool or Aston Villa – would be more beneficial for Atletico Madrid.
