Barcelona's new manager Hansi Flick blocks move for World Cup winner Kante

The German tactician recently joined the Spanish giants after Xavi Hernandez was sacked at the end of last season.

Hansi has been impressed by Barcelona's youthful talent ever since taking over as the first-team coach. 

He has also claimed that he will continue the club's legacy and follow in the footsteps of former manager Xavi in establishing the youth in the team.

Flick has so far given the young players much playing time throughout the preseason and made some crucial choices in the transfer market.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Flick recently stopped a deal for French midfielder N'Golo Kanté to concentrate on developing players like Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal, who have shown promise in preseason.

According to the report, Kanté wants to leave his club in Saudi Arabia and return to Europe this summer. 

Barça sporting director Deco quickly approached the player's agents to propose a loan deal, but Flick, who prefers a squad rejuvenation and is pleased with Bernal and Casadó's progress in the pivot position, quickly blocked the deal.

Flick's preference for a younger profile was influenced by Kanté's age of 33, even though his performances for France at Euro 2024 demonstrated that he still had much left in the tank.

Though a lot may still happen with about a month left in the transfer window, it appears that Barça is not in a rush to recruit a new holding midfield player and that Flick is passing up some big names in favour of investing in the young players.
