Super Eagles star Paul Onuachu has emerged as a potential transfer target for Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
Onuachu is currently on the books of Southampton, but the Nigeria international is likely to leave the club this summer.
Super Eagles star Paul Onuachu's Southampton struggles
The 29-year-old joined the Saints from Belgian top-flight side Genk in January on a three-year deal for a fee in the region of €18.00m.
However, the transfer has failed to work out, with Onuachu struggling to adapt to life at St Mary’s.
The Super Eagles star was brought in to help Southampton preserve their Premier League status, having scored 16 goals in 19 league games for Genk.
But Onuachu struggled to adapt to the level of the Premier League, playing 405 minutes of football across 11 games, which ultimately cost Southampton.
Borussia Monchengladbach want Onuachu
With the Saints now preparing for life in the Championship, Onuachu is not willing to continue his journey with the club and he is looking for a move away this summer.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, a move to Germany looks more likely, with Borussia Monchengladbach keen on adding the Nigerian striker to their ranks.
The Foals are looking for more firepower up front as they aim to build on last season’s tenth-place finish in the German top flight.
Although Onuachu did struggle at Southampton, he is still a decent striker, having established himself as the Belgian League’s top marksman in the last three years.
It remains to be seen, though, if Monchengladbach will sign the Nigerian on a loan or permanent deal this summer.
