Chelsea kicked off the match with intensity, nearly scoring when Cole Palmer's shot deflected wide off Lucas Beraldo.

PSG responded with a sweeping counterattack and should have scored, but Desire Doue was a little too intricate, attempting to cut back to Achraf Hakimi instead of shooting. His pass was read and intercepted by Marc Cucurella.

Other than the occasional bursts, Chelsea dominated the encounter. Enzo Maresca's tactics to play long balls to beat the press worked to a tee, and the Blues had PSG where they wanted them.

Palmer ensured the dominance was reflected in the scoreboard, scoring two breathtaking goals within eight minutes. His first goal came from a precise finish after Malo Gusto's pass, and his second followed a dazzling solo run, which saw him bury the ball in the bottom corner as he did for the first goal.

Palmer set up Joao Pedro for the third goal, which the Brazilian coolly chipped over Gianluigi Donnarumma. PSG had multiple chances to pull one back in the second half, but the combination of Robert Sanchez’s heroics and poor finishing ensured the clinical first-half from the Blues was enough to see them crowned world champions.
