Chelsea release official statement regarding Conor Gallagher's tunnel Incident with a black kid

The incident involved Chelsea's captain Conor Gallagher and a mascot, stirring up a storm on social media platforms.

Gallagher was seen in a short video in the tunnel ignoring the handshake of a black kid before the start of the game.

The incident caused a lot of stir on social media as fans reacted badly to Gallager’s alleged racial gesture.

Following the circulation of the video clip, social media platforms exploded with speculation and commentary surrounding the incident. 

However, Sky Sports reported on X that Chelsea have released a statement which relates to an incident in the tunnel ahead of Chelsea's game with Burnley, which involved their captain Conor Gallagher and a mascot.

Chelsea statement says, "Chelsea Football Club is aware of a video clip circulating on social media from Saturday’s fixture against Burnley, which has been taken considerably out of context.

"The subsequent level of abuse and defamatory comments directed towards Conor Gallagher is completely unacceptable.”

Such a statement sheds light on the severity of the situation, emphasizing the need for proper context and condemning the inappropriate behaviour displayed towards Gallagher.

"We are proud to be a diverse, inclusive club where people from all cultures, communities, and identities feel welcome," Chelsea reiterated.

Meanwhile, the Blues continue their hunt for European qualification as they sit 11th on the Premier League table.
