City Oilers bounce back to winning ways

Following their defeat to nemesis Nam Blazers a fortnight back, City Oilers managed to return to their winning selves, triumphing over KCCA Panthers by 85-73 in the National Basketball League on Friday, at YMCA in Wandegeya.

The Oilers needed to battle from a first quarter slump which the Panthers took 21-18.

Headed into halftime, City Oilers had rallied and led 50-42 after an inspiring second quarter which they won 32-21.

The third quarter was a repeat of the second from the Oilers as they won it 26-14 to make it 76-56 before later winning it by 12 points.
In a winning effort, Tonny Drilleba inspired the Oilers with 19 points, while Benjamin Kawumi and Jimmy Enabu added 16 and 11 points, respectively.

They will now shift attention to Kampala Rockets, in another match-up at YMCA, slated for Sunday.
On the other hand, in the women’s league, Miracle Ravens managed a memorable 76-75 victory over the KCCA Leopards, ending the latter's unbeaten run.
