Cole Palmer's match worn shirt from Chelsea's victory over Brighton has netted a huge sum after an online auction.

The 22-year-old went on a first-half rampage at Stamford Bridge, netting four goals in the first-half in the 4-2 win, marking the first time a player has ever achieved the feat in the Premier League.

Palmer signed his shirt and it was put up for auction on MatchWornShirt with a portion of the net profits donated to the Chelsea FC Foundation.

After an opening bid of £75 — £10 less than what a replica version of the Blues 2024-25 home shirt retails for on the club's website — the item quickly gained traction over the course of the week-long listing.

A late flurry of bids saw the price continue to increase well into the five-figure range, with a punter from Singapore ultimately forking out £34,411 to secure the now-famous piece of sporting memorabilia.

Of the other 12 match-worn Chelsea shirts from the game to be sold at auction, Jadon Sancho's fetched the second-highest price at £1220, while goalkeeper Robert Sanchez's shirt sold for just £287.

The astronomical sum serves as yet another indicator of the England international's ever-growing star power and ranks among the costliest shirts in football history. The only players ever to have generated such revenue for a match worn jersey sold on the site are Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Messi holds the top two spots on the list, with a special edition shirt from his time at PSG netting just under £50,000.

Meanwhile a shirt worn by Ronaldo in Manchester United's defeat by Aston Villa in 2022 sits in third place after selling for over £37,000 on the website.

While Palmer's record-breaking shirt slots into seventh place on the site's biggest ever sales it is still significantly cheaper than the most expensive football shirt of all time.
