In a revealing episode of The Obi One Podcast, Toure shared how close he came to joining Chelsea at the behest of Ivorian legend Didier Drogba. T

Toure reflected on a potential transfer that could have seen him form a formidable midfield trio with Mikel and Michael Essien at Stamford Bridge.

Toure, a three-time African Footballer of the Year spoke warmly of his connection with Drogba.

He said, “Didier is my big brother.

“He said to me, ‘Yaya, come to Chelsea, it’s the place for you.’ He really wanted me there.”

“I was so close to joining you guys, we even had talks, but it just didn’t happen in the end.”

The revelation left Mikel, who played for Chelsea from 2006 to 2017 and won multiple accolades alongside Drogba, visibly stunned.

He responded, “Imagine a midfield of me, you, and Essien,”

Toure added, “It would have been crazy, man! We would have controlled everything.”
