The Argentine manager has been the manager of Atletico Madrid since his appointment in 2011.
He has since led his team to two La Liga titles but has failed to win the UEFA Champions League trophy.
Simeone laments not winning UCL
"Why am I still here? Because better times are coming, and I still believe there's room for improvement. The club has been on the right track for the past two or three years. Since last season, I think we've been reborn; we're more competitive.
The club is developing strongly. I've always said that when I arrived, the team was growing faster than the club. Then the club outgrew the team. Then we stalled a bit in a transitional phase. I feel something better is coming," Simeone told DAZN.
He once again praised Antoine Griezmann, who will be chasing his first trophy with Atletico this season.
"Griezmann is an incredible person and a true club legend. Three or four months after he left, he realised he'd made a mistake. The fans helped him understand that, and it wasn't easy for him.
"But Antoine won back their love with hard work and plenty of goals. As I've always said, goals heal everything. Now the fans are grateful to him.
"They want the team to win, and victories come when you have players like Griezmann," the Argentine manager shared.
Simeone also discussed which of the two Champions League final losses to Real Madrid hurt more. "When we lost in Lisbon, I was sad, but not angry. The lads gave everything, and in extra time we just ran out of steam.
"We couldn't handle the equalizer. Real were the better team then, but we led until the very end, and our hearts were broken. In 2016, we were better, we played higher quality football, and we had chances to win in regulation.
"Then a penalty hitting the post robbed us of the trophy we so desperately wanted. Only God knows why He hasn't given us the Champions League yet," Simeone stated.
