Inter Milan suffered a crushing defeat in the UEFA Champions League final, losing 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain.
After the match, the Nerazzurri were understandably dejected and reluctant to stop in the mixed zone, but right-back Denzel Dumfries was one of the few who did.
Inter has lost two Champions League finals in three seasons, while PSG won its first UCL trophy.
What Dumfries said
Speaking after the game, Dumfries revealed the instructions given to the players by Inzaghi.
"Yes, it's very difficult to accept. I don't think we deserved to win from the very beginning. It's tough because we came here to finish the job. Things didn't go our way, and we have to accept that. It's very hard to find the words for what happened. No, I'm not surprised.
"We knew beforehand that they were strong. Of course, today we didn't see the Inter we wanted to see. We didn't see the Inter we showed earlier, when we reached the final. And yes, we have to accept that. It's very difficult, but we win together and we lose together.
"Yes, they are very dominant. They are very dynamic, with a lot of movement. They're very good at finding open players. And yes, we had problems. In the end, we didn't deserve it. Honestly, it doesn't matter. We couldn't perform at our best. Today we lost. That's the reality."
Sportal reporters on the scene were interested in what Simone Inzaghi said to his players at halftime.
"Of course, he was very angry. He expected a better Inter. He expected us to bring more energy onto the pitch. So he had every reason to be angry with us. And we were angry with ourselves. But yes, it wasn't enough."
Just a month ago, Inter had a chance at a treble, but ultimately finished without a single trophy.
"It's a rollercoaster ride because a few weeks ago we had the chance to win the treble. We had a very good period. In recent weeks, we haven't played like before. That's difficult to accept.
Finally, Dumfries was asked if Inter has the strength to reach the Champions League final again in the coming years.
"Yes, of course, I think so. Because when you play for such a big club, you always have to fight to come back. Of course, right now it's very difficult to find a way how we're going to do it. But for sure, we have the Club World Cup. We have to show up there, present ourselves well, show why we play for Inter and that's the reality.
"We didn't expect this kind of start. I don't think we felt in control from the beginning and we didn't play the way we wanted. In the end, 5-0 was very tough, but we didn't deserve it from the start. That's the reality.
