Finally, Kakyeka Stadium cleared to host UPL matches
Ahead of the second round, Uganda Premier League outfit Mbarara City FC have been cleared to host their matches at their home grounds, Kakyeka Stadium.
The Ankole Lions had failed the licensing requirements for the second round, and FUFA had subsequently withdrawn the rights to host at Kakyeka.
However, in a turn of events, the Uganda Premier League secretariat has backtracked on the decision.
"Mbarara City FC will host its home matches during the second round of the 2023-2024 season at Kakyeka Stadium," the UPL confirmed on their social media handles.
A number of clubs have time and again cried foul over the appalling conditions of the stadium, especially the playing surface.
Meanwhile, Mbarara City are set to host Express FC in their first match of the second round on February 2.
The Ankole Lions ended the first half of the season 11th on the 16-team log with 17 points in 15 matches.
