Flying Eagles depart Nigeria for 12-day camp in Chile

Nigeria's U20 team known as the Flying Eagles, has left the country for Chile, where they will camp for a final 12-day period in preparation for their participation in this year's FIFA U20 World Cup finals.

The Flying Eagles are in Group F alongside Norway, Saudi Arabia and Colombia at FIFA U-20 Men's World Cup.

The Estadio Fiscal in Talca, a city 250 kilometers from Santiago, Chile, will host all of Nigeria's Group F games.

On Monday, September 29, they will play Norway, on October 2, they will play Saudi Arabia and on October 5, they will play Colombia.

Before leaving on Sunday, the seven-time African champs trained in Abuja for a few weeks.

On Sunday night, a group of 20 players and 11 officials boarded a Turkish Airline flight to Istanbul, from which the contingent will fly to Santiago, where they will camp for the final phase.

Nigeria lost to Korea Republic in extra time at the last edition but have been silver medalists in 1989 and in 2005.

The Flying Eagles go to Chile after their exploits at the WAFU U-20 Cup.

Hosts Chile leads Group A, which also includes New Zealand, Japan, and Egypt while South Korea, Ukraine, Paraguay, and Panama are in Group B, while .

Group C is led by Brazil and includes Mexico, Morocco, and Spain, Group D consists of Italy, Australia, Cuba, and Argentina, while Group E consists of South Africa, France, New Caledonia, and the United States.
