The forward was anticipated to be the club’s attacking spearhead but his time at the Den failed to live up to the billing, with Gitego managing just four goals across his tenure.

Despite showing glimpses of his quality, his first season in Kenya saw him net three goals, while he managed only one this term before parting ways with the club. His spell was marred by inconsistent performances and off-field challenges, which hampered his ability to settle.

At the back end of last season, Gitego missed several crucial matches due to personal controversies, including an incident that briefly landed him in trouble with law enforcement. The situation strained his relationship with AFC Leopards, with the player openly expressing his frustration over his treatment by the club.

Gitego had reportedly sought an exit as early as January, but AFC Leopards were reluctant to let him go. However, with his performances not matching expectations and his struggles becoming more evident, both parties agreed to part ways.

Now, the Rwandan striker gets a second chance to revive his career in Mozambique, where he will be expected to bolster Ferroviário da Beira’s attack in their push for domestic and continental success.

The club, one of the most respected teams in Mozambique, will be hoping that Gitego rediscovers his form and adapts quickly to the Mocambola League.

Gitego’s move to Mozambique offers him a clean slate to put past challenges behind him and fulfill the potential that once made him a promising prospect in Rwandan football.

For now, his focus will be on adapting to his new surroundings and proving that his stint in Kenya was just a minor setback.

Whether he can reclaim his goal-scoring touch remains to be seen, but Clube Ferroviário da Beira has handed him the perfect platform to do so.
