Former Egypt head coach responds to Peseiro's claim of being pressured by NFF to pick home-based players

The Ex-Super Eagles head coach led the team to the final of the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast before leaving his position.

Peseiro suggested that pressure from the Nigeria Football Federation to field local players may have weakened the team's performance.

Responding to Peseiro's claims, Vitória highlighted the distinct football landscape of Egypt, emphasizing the quality and potential of players within the country. 

He pointed out the strength of teams like Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids, where players are considered stars. 

Vitória acknowledged the challenges faced by players in leaving their home environment, including family, weather, food, and club status, to pursue opportunities abroad.

"Egypt is a different reality. It has players of quality and potential, and there are three tremendously strong teams: Al Ahly, Zamalek, mainly, and now Pyramids, where the players are stars. 

“It is not easy there, as it happens in other latitudes, for a player to leave that environment, his family, the good weather, the food, his friends, and abandon his status at the club where he is idolized and join any European team," Vitória stated, In a recent interview with Portuguese sports daily A Bola
