The German Supercup final was the worst possible way to start the season for the Bundesliga champions.

Dani Olmo's hat-trick was enough to sink Bayern as Leipzig defeated the Bundesliga champions 3-0.

Kane's trophy drought continued as the England international made his debut in the defeat.

During his post-game interview after the game, Tuchel criticised his team for their performance and apologised to Kane.

He said as reported by the Sun, "I have no explanation at the moment. We're conceding the easiest of goals.

“It's like we haven't done anything for four weeks. What we've shown today has nothing to do with how we trained, the form, the atmosphere. It's alarming, just alarming.

"I'm just sorry for him [Kane]. He probably thinks we haven't trained for four weeks.

“Our performance today had nothing to do with what we set out to do. It's a very bitter evening, I'm sorry.

“We were puzzled. I don't know why. It's a mental thing. I have no idea. I have no solution right now. I'm dismayed and extremely disappointed. Our style of play wasn't recognisable.”

The Allianz Arena crowd sang Kane's name yesterday, and he will be hoping for a stronger performance when they play Werder Bremen to open the league season next week.
