Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that Neymar is still a key part of his plans for the next year, as long as the star stays fit, noting that the former Barcelona and PSG forward "can play anywhere" on the pitch and make a big impact.

Neymar’s later career has been hampered by recurring injuries, with multiple long-term absences since the 2017-18 season. Despite fitness struggles since rejoining his boyhood club Santos, Ancelotti confirmed last month that he’s counting on the Brazilian star to lead the Selecao at the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti says 'dangerous' Neymar will shine for Brazil again

Speaking to reporters after Brazil’s win over Paraguay, Ancelotti said: "I saw Neymar at the hotel, we hugged. When he is well, he can play anywhere on the field.

"Today, he could do the same job as [Matheus] Cunha, as a number 10. In that position, he can be very dangerous. [Against Paraguay] we played with four forwards, and the team was balanced.

"It’s not a problem to play with four, three or two forwards. It’s about having 10 players who run, who sacrifice themselves. Rodrygo has done this many times; we know him very well. Neymar can also do this without any problem."

What the future holds for the former Barcelona star is truly anyone's guess, but the 33-year-old will be praying that he can escape his struggles with injury and regain his best form.

There is no doubt that when fit, he remains one of the most exciting players to watch, and perhaps he can get one last shot at winning the World Cup for Brazil.
