AC Milan fans have fresh reason to be excited ahead of the new season, as Rafael Leão has openly welcomed the imminent arrival of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface.

The Portuguese forward, speaking while recovering from injury, offered glowing praise for his soon-to-be strike partner.

During a live Twitch broadcast, Leão was shown clips of Boniface’s goals for Bayer Leverkusen and could not hide his admiration.

“He’s the type of player I like,” Leao said, even mimicking the Nigerian’s trademark celebration on camera. It was a moment that sent Rossoneri supporters buzzing online, especially as Leão himself continues to work on returning from a calf setback that will see him miss Milan’s Serie A opener against Cremonese.

“Great things await us on the horizon,” the 26-year-old reassured fans, adding that his recovery is progressing “step by step.”

His comments suggest he expects to form a quick partnership with Boniface once both are fully fit and available for selection.

Boniface, 24, has already arrived in Italy to undergo his medical after AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen struck an agreement for a loan deal worth €5 million, with an additional €24 million option to buy.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the structure, while Italian outlets highlighted that AC Milan pivoted to Boniface after failing to land Rasmus Højlund or Dušan Vlahović.

The deal comes amid concerns over the Nigerian’s injury history, including cruciate ligament problems in his earlier career, but Milan view him as the right blend of strength, technique, and energy to complement Leão.

If he passes his medical, Boniface will officially become Milan’s eighth signing of the summer, signaling a bold new attacking era at San Siro.
