I am afraid — Chelsea icon admits ahead of Club World final against PSG
Former France defender Frank Leboeuf has expressed concern for Chelsea’s young squad as they gear up to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final.
Chelsea secured their place with a 2-0 victory over Fluminense, while PSG dominated Real Madrid with a 4-0 win on Wednesday.
Enzo Maresca’s men are clear underdogs against a PSG side that has been unstoppable, claiming a treble and now one win away from a perfect season.
Frank Lebouf scared for Chelsea against PSG
Speaking to ESPN, Leboeuf admitted it’s tough to stay hopeful for his former club against the Champions League winners.
“I try to be optimistic for Chelsea, but according to what I’ve seen from both clubs, it’s hard for me not to predict that any team that plays against PSG, will not lose 3-0 or 4-0.
"That’s what it is. And I’m scared for the young boys of Chelsea, because that could be a lesson. Will it be a good lesson or a bad one? I don’t know.”
The Blues can draw some positives from their recent performances and the fact that PSG actually lost 1-0 to Botafogo in the group stage, showing they can be beaten.
However, the return of Ballon d'Or favourite Ousmane Dembele makes their task even harder, and a win against the Parisians in New Jersey on Sunday will certainly constitute an upset.
