Joao Felix has stated that he is currently happy at Barcelona, suggesting a desire to continue at the club beyond his current loan deal.

The 23-year-old joined Barcelona on the last day of the summer transfer window on a loan from Atletico Madrid. He is on his second consecutive loan spell after spending half of the past season on loan at Chelsea.

His fractious relationship with Rojiblancos manager Diego Simeone enforced these sojourns, and with a growing sense that the relationship can no longer be remedied, a permanent move away is in the offing.

What Felix said

The 24-year-old reportedly took a significant pay cut to sign for the Blaugrana this summer, as his initial wages made inscription impossible due to the Catalan club's dire financial situation.

His start to his loan career has gone well, as he has scored three times and assisted twice. This has sparked conversations about the possibility of Barcelona doing a deal with Atletico Madrid to acquire him permanently.

The player himself is enjoying his time at the club, saying he is feeling good and confident.

“As you can see, I am happy where I am—in Barcelona. I feel good and confident. And I feel that I am going through a good time,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.

Atletico Madrid signed Felix from Benfica in the summer of 2018 for a reported £120 million.

They will be expected to demand close to this figure for the Portuguese, with his contract with the club lasting until 2029. The Blaugrana are expected to find this figure difficult to match, as their financial difficulties seem far from over.
