'I Couldn't Have Been More Disappointed' - Klopp Slams Liverpool Fans For Booing Alexander-Arnold
The England international will leave the Premier League winners after this season and will be joining Real Madrid.
Arnold made his decision not to renew his contract with Liverpool a few months ago despite being offered a lucrative deal.
His decision to leave the Reds has left fans fuming, and the fullback was booed during Liverpool's 3-2 defeat against Brighton last weekend.
Klopp expresses his displeasure
According to reports from Sport.aktuality, Klopp stated that the negative fan reaction made him turn off the television.
"I'm an older man and I'm not going to waste time hiding behind my opinion. When he came on, I heard booing. It took me ten seconds to understand it, and then I turned off the TV. At that moment, I couldn't have been more disappointed; that's not us."
"Don't forget. This club has a memory, and that's what made us famous. We don't forget the good, but we also don't forget the bad.
"However, we ignore the bad and remember the good. You don't have to be happy that he's leaving, but remember what he's done for this club," DPA quoted Klopp as saying.
"He gave everything for this club every day for 20 years. Now he's decided to go somewhere else. Maybe the owners are angry that he didn't sign a new contract, but we're not." Klopp added.
The 26-year-old defender has been with Liverpool his entire professional career, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup, among other honours.
