Van Dijk reflects on milestone appearance
"Very proud," Van Dijk said of his 300th game for Liverpool. "My family and my kids were here today, so it was a special day. I might get a glass of red wine tonight—just to celebrate, me and my wife. But that's it. The focus is then on the next game."
The Dutchman acknowledged that there will come a time to reflect on his Liverpool journey but hinted at uncertainty beyond this season.
"There will be a day one day when I reflect on everything that's happened to me at Liverpool. Then I'll have a proper think about what stands out. Hopefully, there are still good things to come," he added.
When asked about his future, Van Dijk admitted, "I have no idea (how many more appearances he'll make). How many left this season? Hopefully, those are guaranteed, and then I don't know what the future will bring."
Reflecting on his impressive 69.7% win rate at Liverpool, the defender said, "That shows I did quite well up until now. It's down to everyone involved—the players, the managers, the fans. It's a good stat to have. We will keep going. Good win, so now we focus on the next one."
Liverpool face potential key departures
Van Dijk’s uncertain future, coupled with the impending contract expirations of Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, poses a challenge for Liverpool as they plan for next season.
Losing all three would be a significant blow for manager Arne Slot and his team, making it crucial to resolve these contract situations sooner rather than later.
