Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has decried the state of his squad ahead of the Blues’ Premier League match against Arsenal.

Pochettino working with bare-bones ahead of Arsenal match

Chelsea have endured a difficult start to the 2023/24 Premier League season and sit 11th in the league standings after eight matches of the season.

The Blues have suffered a number of serious injuries to first-team players and have up to 12 players either injured or in doubt for their match against last season’s title contenders and London derby rivals Arsenal.

Pochettino has explained his team’s struggles ahead of the match against Arsenal, after having only three players fit to train at some point before the London derby against the Gunners. 

Pochettino decries injury problems

The Argentine manager spoke ahead of the match against Arsenal, saying, "We enjoy it a lot [the break] because we discover many young talent from the academy.

“80 per cent of the squad was out [on international duty], some injured players. We only had available Thiago [Silva], Raheem [Sterling], and Marc Cucurella.

"I was late more than half an hour [to the press conference] because of meetings then training, before tomorrow, because we only have today to prepare the game."

Poschettino will have to do with what they have ahead of the Arsenal fixture, as they look to disrupt the Gunners’ title charge this season.
