‘Idiots don't understand anything about football’ - Ronaldo hits back at Joao Felix's critics
Felix joined Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, leaving Chelsea in a deal worth an initial £26 million, which could potentially rise to £43 million.
The move raised eyebrows, as the 25-year-old Portuguese international opted to leave European football during a turbulent phase of his career.
Since joining Al-Nassr, Félix has played five games, scoring a hat-trick on his debut and providing one assist.
Ronaldo defends Felix
The popular Portuguese podcast "Chuveirinho" recently questioned Felix’s decision to leave Europe for Saudi Arabia at a young age, which drew a sharp response from Ronaldo on Instagram.
Commenting on a clip from the podcast, Ronaldo wrote, "Idiots don't understand anything about football, yet they still give their opinions," followed by three crying emojis, as reported by Daily Mail.
The comment has since been deleted. The "Chuveirinho" account later posted a message questioning whether they "deserve" such a rebuke from Ronaldo, noting their frequent praise for the 40-year-old star.
Félix's decision to join Al-Nassr was influenced by Ronaldo after the midfielder reached out to the Portuguese legend.
"You can see he's building something here and doing his part in developing the project," Félix said. "He was one of the first to talk to me about coming here, and when he talked to me, I felt a wonderful moment and a beautiful feeling, and that helped convince me."
Since his own controversial departure from Manchester United, Ronaldo has scored 95 goals in 109 appearances for Al-Nassr.
