During a press conference, via Sportal, at the Italian national team's training camp, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma commented on his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester City, as well as the coaching change within the Azzurri.

"I kept training well and couldn't wait to join City because they really wanted me, including the manager, which made me very proud. To be so strongly desired by the best club in the world makes me proud, excited, and happy. I asked the club president to sign my contract here in Italy because it has brought me luck before.

"As I said, to be so wanted by a club like City means you're doing something right. To be wanted by one of the best managers in the world, Pep Guardiola, is an indescribable feeling.

"Every coach makes their own choices and I don't know why he decided to bring me in, but I'm proud to be coached by Guardiola, who has won so much and is among the best in the world. I can improve so much under him and achieve great success."

"I've always had an excellent relationship with Enrique. He was sincere with me from the very first days of pre-season. I don't know if I'm disappointed. Everyone makes their own decisions. The coach has the authority to decide, but having the support of everyone, including my teammates, made me realise what I gave to PSG.

"I think that's the most important thing. Because beyond football, that's what remains: knowing you have the affection of those around you and your teammates. That's why I'm proud of what I left behind there. In my four years in Paris, I felt at home. I can only be happy about those four years, which I will never forget.

"As I've said, everyone makes their own choices, so I'm not disappointed about anything. The coach was straightforward with me, and I appreciate that. I was very moved to feel the affection of my teammates, the stadium, and everyone around me."

"I was lucky to have Gattuso as my coach at Milan. I know what kind of person he is and what he can bring to us. I'm happy to be working with him again. We will give our all to bring Italy back to the top. We need to be humble and united to build a strong team. I have no doubts about that because we have a strong, young squad that wants to grow and inspire.

"I'm convinced we will take a big step forward. I want to send my regards to Spalletti. Unfortunately, things didn't quite work out for us, but that's also our responsibility. There's no doubt about it: we definitely should have done better.

"Regarding the coaching change, those are decisions for the president and the Italian federation, but I'm glad I was able to establish a relationship with Spalletti, who is capable of making a great contribution," Donnarumma told the Italian media.
