Jubilation at Camp Nou as Messi's father spotted with Barcelona president Laporta to discuss transfer
The coast is now getting clearer regarding the next club Lionel Messi will be lacing his boots for in the coming season.
The Argentine icon played his last game for Paris Saint-Germain in the 3-2 loss to Clermont in front of their home fans.
The 35-year-old refused to renew his contract with Parc Des Princes outfit despite being offered a new deal.
And there have been several reports that has linked the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to play in the Saudi Pro League or return to his boyhood club Barcelona.
Messi’s father Jorge meets Laporta
There are now clear indications that negotiations are currently ongoing to bring the Argentine captain back to La Blaugrana.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted a video on his official Twitter handle showing Messi’s father Jorge and Barca President Juan Laporta moving in to have a meeting regarding the transfer of the Argentine.
And he few minutes later posted what Jorge said after the meeting:
“Leo wants to return to Barcelona and I’d love to see him back to Barça. I can say that we are confident, Barça move is an option for sure. You will know the future soon.”
Barcelona won La Liga title this season, their first since Messi unceremoniously left the club in January 2021.
Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain after signing a two-year deal with the French giants where he won two Ligue 1 titles.
