Posta Rangers coach John Kamau insists his side must become more efficient and precise in front of goal if they are to stand a chance of doing well in their remaining five games of the season.

Kamau was far from happy with his side’s display during their 1-0 loss to KCB in a match played at the Ruaraka grounds last Sunday, berating his side for trying to take too many chances in the final third.

“I need to be motivated,” he said. “My main job is to make sure our build-up is effective in the final third, but our players also need to take more initiative,” he added.

“Sometimes, we have the ball in the final third and there is no pressure at all (from the opposing defenders) but we still want to dilly dally with the ball. It is very frustrating for me."

The former Thika United tactician is trying to instill a philosophy in the side where they work the ball into the box, and while he is happy his players are executing his instructions, he insists they also have to learn “to take more initiative”.

“I do not want us to be direct, but I want us to be more creative. The most important thing is to make sure that we have a style of play that will suit us but at the same time, good football without results is dead for me," said Kamau.

Posta Rangers sit 10th on the FKF Premier League table on 39 points with five matches still to play. They will face Wazito at the Muhoroni Stadium on Saturday.
