Kenyan youngster Silas Sentura has revealed his next ambitious goal after a blistering start to the campaign.

The promising talent made a thunderous statement at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi on Friday, clinching victory in the men's 10,000m at the fifth leg of the Betika Athletics Kenya (AK) Track and Field Weekend Meeting.

The victory marked a special moment Sentura, being his first-ever 10,000m race and his season opener.

Stopping the clock at 29:09.49, Sentura edged out Festus Kimorwo in a thrilling sprint finish, with Victor Kimosop rounding off the podium.

"The result is beyond my expectations," Sentura said, still trying to wrap his head around the dream debut as quoted by Athletics Kenya.

"This being my first 10,000m race and my season opener, I couldn’t have asked for a better start."

But for Sentura, Friday’s triumph is just the opening chapter of a much bigger story. His eyes are firmly set on the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, this September.

“My ultimate goal is to be part of the Kenyan team for Tokyo. Right now, my focus is on hitting the qualifying mark for the men's 5000m, which is 13:01.00,” he said.

With plans to compete in international races in the coming weeks, Sentura is chasing not just a time, but a dream that would see him join the long and storied tradition of Kenyan greats on the world stage.

If his electrifying debut is anything to go by, the athletics the Kenyan youngster is poised to tke the world stage by storm.
