Liverpool have enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent weeks, putting together a run of five straight wins which has lifted Jurgen Klopp's men to within four points of fourth-placed Manchester United, who were beaten by Brighton on Thursday night.
Klopp downplays Liverpool's chances
However, United still have a game in hand on Liverpool and Klopp can’t see either Erik ten Hag’s side or Newcastle United dropping enough points for his team to be able to leapfrog them.
“Nothing has changed. Other teams are in much better positions and as long as they win games we have no chance,” Klopp said.

“We also have to keep teams behind us too. If Brighton win all their games, and how they played last night that’s possible, another incredible performance, then they could go above us.
“We have 59 points, United has 63, so we can get 71 maximum. United needs for that eight points in five games. I think they will do that! They win three games and that is it. The way the top four teams played over this year no one looks like losing more games than they win.”
