Barcelona's Lamine Yamal has won the the Kopa Trophy for a second consecutive year.

Lamine Yamal has been named as the winner of the Kopa Trophy at the Balon d'Or, winning the award for a second consecutive time.

The 18-year-old winner won the award for the first time in the previous edition after an impressive European Championship with Spain. This year, he is one of the main contenders for the Ballon d'Or and has claimed the Kopa trophy for a consecutive year.

The Ballon d'Or gala was held tonight, Monday, September 22nd, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

The Young  Player of the Year, named after legendary French Footballer Raymond Kopa, and given to the best U-21 footballer, was one of the coveted trophies on the night. Lamine Yamal was one of its contenders. 

The Spain international was nominated alongside Desire Doue (PSG), Pay Cubarsi (Barcelona), Myles Lewis Skelly (Arsenal), Rodrigo Mora (Porto), Joao Neves (PSG), Kenan Yildiz (Juventus), Ayyoub Bouaddi (Lille), Estevao (Chelsea), and Dean Huijsen (Real Madrid).

 Lamine Yamal won the award after leading Barcelona to a domestic treble and reaching the Champions League semi-final in which he had a sensational performance against Inter. PSG’s Doue came second.
