The organizer of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has announced a mid-season break after the first round of matches.

The league, in a statement, said the league will go on break and resume the second round on February 8.

The break will give clubs the opportunity to strengthen their teams through mid-season transfers, which will open from January 23 to February 3.

According to the statement, “The NWFL announces the start of the mid-season breaks for the NWFL Premiership after the end of the first stanza.

“At the break, the mid-season transfer window will run from 23rd January to 3, 2023. Second round returns on 8 February.”

The victory against defending champion, Bayelsa Queens on matchday seven made the team the only side going into the mid-season break unbeaten.

Delta Queens recorded five wins and a draw in six games, scoring 11 goals and conceding just twice.

Delta Queens opens a five-point lead over Bayelsa Queens at the top of Group A with 16 points, Rivers Angels are second with nine points.

Heartland Queens is ranked third with eight points followed by Abuja based, Naija Ratels FC who have seven points and are placed fourth on the log

The Royal Queens are fifth with four points while the Osun Babes are bottom on the log with just three points.

Edo Queens finished as Group B leader.
