Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi admits struggle with fitness amidst return to action
The 27-year-old's absence due to fitness woes was keenly felt by Leicester City, especially during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where his absence was conspicuous.
The Foxes found themselves teetering on the brink of losing control in the English Championship without Ndidi's commanding presence on the field.
Ndidi on his fitness
Ndidi marked his return against Sunderland, signalling a step towards full recovery and readiness to represent the Super Eagles in consecutive friendly matches against Ghana and Mali.
"I'm getting closer to full fitness, but it comes slowly and gradually. It doesn't just come in one or two games. As we move forward, we'll see what happens in the future.
“If I'm in the team, I'll always do my best, but the fitness always comes game by game, as does the confidence also," Ndidi revealed in an interview with Leicester City's official website.
With Enzo Maresca, Leicester City's head coach, eyeing promotion to the Premier League, the resurgence of their star midfielder, Ndidi, to his pre-injury form is imperative.
As the Foxes navigate the challenges of the Championship, Ndidi's gradual return to full fitness and peak performance will be crucial in their pursuit of success.
