Lionel Messi: Argentina captain sends warning to Colombia ahead of Copa America final
One of the most popular sportsmen in the world, Lionel Messi is competing in the Copa America 2024 tournament right now.
In the competition final, his team, the Argentina National Football Team, will take on the Colombia National Football Team.
Prior to the match, Messi, the captain of Argentina, sent a poignant letter to all of his admirers worldwide, expressing gratitude to them and the support staff for their support thus far.
Messi sends warning to Colombia
The message by Messi said, "Last day of Copa America. Once again we reached the end... This incredible road would have been impossible without the hard work of everyone, the ones who watch the most and the ones who are always behind the camera.
"Thanks to all for the effort and passion, to all the teammates and the technical body, to the workers of the National Team and all the Argentinians who came to encourage us to America and to those who could not come but support us from our country and also from other places where they are living.
"A big hug to all, come on Argentina 🇦🇷."
Messi and Copa America
Messi scored his first goal of the tournament in the 2-0 semi-final triumph over Canada.
When Argentina plays Colombia in Florida on Sunday, they will be vying for a record-breaking 16th Copa America championship; a win would move the reigning champions beyond Uruguay as the most successful squad in the history of the competition.
Argentina is poised to achieve a historic trifecta, having already won the World Cup in 2022 and the Copa America in 2021.
In terms of accomplishments in international football, only Spain's consecutive European Championships in 2008 and 2012—which were interspersed with a 2010 World Cup victory—can be compared.
After losing his first four major finals (one World Cup, three Copa Americas) since 2007, Argentina's star forward Messi will look to add another championship to his famous career.
