London Marathon: Security tightened amid concerns of protests related to Israeli-Palestinian conflict

As the countdown to the London Marathon intensifies concerns have arisen over possible disruptions stemming from protests related to the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel. 

With more than 50,000 individuals set to participate in the iconic event, organisers are urging for unity and peaceful coexistence on the streets of London this Sunday.

Event director Hugh Brasher acknowledges the possibility of disruptions and emphasises the importance of maintaining a harmonious atmosphere during the marathon.

"There are people running for Palestinians that have been affected. There are people that are running for Israelis that have been affected. What we’ve always tried to do is bring people together," Brasher stated.

Despite potential challenges, this year's London Marathon is poised to break records, with expectations of surpassing the previous records for both the number of finishers and charity fundraising. 

Security measures have been bolstered for the protection of participants and spectators, especially notable figures such as celebrities and athletes. 

While specifics regarding security arrangements remain undisclosed organizers assure the public of their vigilance in safeguarding the integrity of the event.
