Love is wicked: Shakira says she wanted to have a life-long relationship with ex Gerard Pique

In an honest conversation about her breakup with football ex Gerard Pique, pop icon Shakira declared that she committed to the concept of "till death do us part."

The 46-year-old Colombian diva revealed that it had once been her "dream" to be in a committed relationship for the rest of her life with the father of her two children.

She acknowledged that she had been "battling her demons" ever since the tumultuous end of their relationship.

Slamming her former partner, she compared the breakup to being "thrown in the trash and surrounded by rats" in discussions about her next music.

The celebrity also acknowledged her challenges with being a single mother which is now her situation.

Following the drama of their turbulent split, the singer told Billboard that she is going through "a reflective period."

A weakened Shakira said that she "believed in till death do us part" before parting ways with her alleged cheating ex.

She said, “I’ve gone through several stages: denial, anger, pain, frustration, anger again, pain again. Now I’m in a survival stage," she explained.

"My priority was my home, my family. I believed in 'till death do us part.' I believed that dream, and I had that dream for myself, for my children."

"It’s what I wanted for myself and my children, but it didn’t happen."

"The siren is a symbol that represents that part of me that was abducted and taken from a world where she belongs to a world where she doesn’t belong.

"A world she had to make enormous sacrifice to be in. A world where perhaps she lacked oxygen.

"But in the end, she returns to the sea because it’s her destiny, just like I returned to Miami.

The singer talked extensively about music as well, outlining the "organic" opportunities she's had to create new songs since her breakup.

She has released a number of tunes recently, including The Boss, that seem to dig at her ex Pique.

The celebrity claimed that since she is currently based in Miami, it is simpler for her to go to Los Angeles or other US cities and meet collaborators.

According to Spanish media, Pique and Clara Chia appear to be engaged and planning to announce their nuptials over a year after their meeting.

Shakira, on the other hand, reportedly had a date with Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler.
