Manchester United: Sheikh Jassim congratulated on takeover before official announcement

While there has been no official announcement from the Glazers regarding the outcome of Manchester United's sale process, reports from Qatar claim a bid has finally been accepted.

Manchester United owners, the Glazers are yet to announce officially that a bid has been accepted for the club but Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has been congratulated on his alleged takeover.

Sheikh Jassim, a billionaire Qatari banker, has been in direct competition with INEOS chief executive Sir Jim Ratcliffe since the start of the year. There have been several deadlines love that period set by the Glazers but there seemed to always be a hold-up, generally, financial reasons.

Sheikh Jassim has been aggressive in his pursuit and his last bid was his fifth of what has been a drawn-out bidding process.

Sheikh Jassim close to Man United purchase

According to reports from Qatar, his final offer has convinced the Glazers, who have been holding out for £6billion, to sell.

Qatari businessman, Zaidm Al-Hamdan. Chairman of the Armasite Group congratulated Sheikh Jassim on Twitter:

 "Congratulations to Shaikh Jassim Bin Hamad Bin Jassim on his acquisition of @manutd." The tweet garnered 25,000 likes within 12 hours of posting.
