Mayele models new Young Africans kit to allay exit fears

One of the best forwards on the continent could stay in Tanzania, just maybe. Fiston Mayele was on hand to model in the new Young Africans kit launched to the public on Thursday ahead of the new season.

The 29-year-old has been a subject of transfer speculation, with so many clubs vying for his signature despite having a year left on his current contract with ‘Tiimu ya Wanainchi’.

Kaizer Chiefs, North African giants Al Ahly and Raja Casablanca, as well as Saudi Arabian sides, have all expressed interest in signing the forward.

However, Young Africans have remained tight-lipped as they also try to engage the forward to extend his stay with them, and discussions are underway.

Currently in Malawi on official invitation, Young Africans are set to face Malawian champions Nyasa Big Bullets on Thursday as the country commemorates their 59th Independence Day celebrations.

The back-to-back domestic treble champions unveiled three kits with their traditional green and yellow colours well represented and a third kit, grey.

The Tanzanian president Samia Hassan Suluhu in Lilongwe also received the kit, as she is part of the head of state invited to the Independence Day celebrations.

The Ugandan Connection

Also, part of Young Africans’ delegation to Malawi are Wakiso Giants players Sharif Kimbowa and Moses Aliro; the duo is reportedly on a two weeks trial and will feature against Nyasa Big Bullets with the hope of earning permanent contracts.

New head coach Miguel Angel Gamondi is expected to arrive in Dar-es-Salaam next week as players report for training ahead of the preseason.
