The former Barcelona star has come under heavy criticism by the PSG fanbase and has been subjected to boos in multiple home matches. The Parisians boss believes this is only because people demand more from the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, who has been faultless this term.

What Galtier said about Messi

The former Lille boss was speaking today in the pre-match press conference ahead of their league clash at Strasbourg tomorrow when he pointed out the good season his Argentine forward is having.

He pointed out that Messi's numbers—20 goals and 20 assists in 39 games—are a gigantic improvement from his debut season, where he scored 11 times and had 15 assists.

He reiterated that Messi is an exceptional footballer with an admirable work ethic who is having a top season.

“Leo has been irreproachable throughout the season in his effort in training. Leo is football. It’s true. I have seen it every day in training, I’ve also seen it in our matches. This year, he has great statistics. It is already much, much better than last season. I think Leo has had a very good season with PSG, but people still expect a lot more from him,” he said per GFFN.
