Michael Johnson: Sprint legend names Sha'Carri Richardson, Tebogo, and Adeleke as part of the reasons track future is in safe hands

American sprint legend Michael Johnson has revealed that track future is in safe hands due to some present crop of sprinters, which includes Sha'Carri Richardson, Rhasidat Adeleke, and Letsile Tebogo.

In a post on his X page, the former men's 200m World Record (WR) holder listed some athletes as the present and future, with the names comprising of the world's fastest man and woman Noah Lyles and Richardson.

Others are 400mH men and women's WR holders Sydney McLaughlin and Karsten Warholm, fastest woman alive in the 200m Shericka Jackson, Olympic 800m champion Athing Mu, WR holder in the women's 1500m event Faith Kipyegon, etc.

While Botswana's speedster Tebogo, new Irish track queen Rhasidat Adeleke, and world 60m champion Julien Alfred were listed as the next superstars.

Johnson won quadruple Olympic gold medals and doubled them at the world championships is one of the most vocal ex-athletes advocating for athletes' rights and the sport's growth in all ramifications.

In addition, he is blazing a new trail in athletics after securing over $30,000,000 in funding from investors and strategic partners for his planned track league set to launch in 2025, aimed at promoting interest in the sport.

According to sources, the league will include a series of events during the track season - April to September, limiting the number of events and athletes. The league aims to elevate the sport's stars and rivalries between them while catering to fan interests.

Also, the plan is to create content around those athletes to increase interest in the sport, which is one of the most popular during the Olympics every four years.
