Millions FKF will bank from sold-out Kenya vs Gabon World Cup qualifier at Nyayo Stadium
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is not just celebrating the great support Harambee Stars have received from fans but also a major cash boost.
Harambee Stars are set to play at a sold-out Nyayo National Stadium when they face Gabon in their 2026 World Cup qualifier on Sunday March 23 after fans heeded the call to snap up tickets for the game.
With tickets for the match being sold online, Kenyans were rallied to get them in time, as there would be no purchases at the gate, and they did not wait as by Saturday afternoon, they had been sold out.
FKF revealed that all the 100 VVIP tickets, which were retailing for Ksh10,000, sold out first before the 1,800 VIP tickets, each selling for Ksh1,000, followed.
Terrace tickets were going for Ksh300 each and were the next to be sold out with 21,000 of them made available to fans.

That means Ksh1 million was generated from the VVIP tickets, Ksh1.8 million from VIP tickets and Ksh6.3 million from the terrace tickets, bringing the total to Ksh9.1 million for the match.
It is a massive boost for FKF and a great show of support from Kenyans who had been starved of international football action at home involving Harambee Stars for four years.

Harambee Stars last played a competitive home match in November 2021 and since then, they have been forced to host their rivals in other nations, owing to lack of an approved stadium at home.
Nyayo was, however, cleared for Sunday’s match after renovations designed to make it ready for the 2024 African Nations Championships set to be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Benni McCarthy’s men will now hope to benefit from the impact of the 12th man during Sunday’s match as they look for victory to revive their World Cup hopes after Thursday’s 3-3 draw away to The Gambia.
