Mourinho back for Roma’s clash against Real Sociedad
Jose Mourinho will return to the bench for AS Roma’s Europa League clash against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
Mourinho had missed Roma’s Serie A clash against Sassuolo after he was banned for two games following his conduct in his side’s 1-0 defeat at Cremonese.
Mourinho boost for AS Roma
The ban had initially been suspended after Roma decided to appeal, but it was confirmed last weekend.
As a result, Mourinho was not on the bench in the clash against Sassuolo. Roma felt his absence as they suffered a shocking 4-3 loss at home to Alessio Dionisi’s men.
However, the ex-Chelsea manager will return to the bench on Thursday night, even though he still has one game left to serve.
Mourinho will take his place on the touchline as the ban does not affect him in European competitions. It means
Roma in the driving seat
Mourinho’s presence on the touchline is an added boost for Roma, who should feel confident in their chances of progressing to the quarter-final.
The Yellow and Reds have the advantage after beating Real Sociedad 2-0 in the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma will progress to the quarter-final if they avoid defeat or do not lose by more than a goal margin.
Mourinho’s men will be hoping to get a positive result in the game ahead of the big derby clash against Lazio on Sunday.
