The Turkish Super Cup derby clash between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce ended in a victory for Buruk's side. However, it was not all celebrations after the match for the former Turkish footballer, as he was a victim of violence.

The Fenerbahce coach, Mourinho, appeared to pull Buruk's nose, and the Galatasaray boss fell dramatically. Mourinho has since been handed a three-match suspension, while the Cim-Bom manager was fined for “provoking” his opposite number.

A proud Okan Buruk hails Osimhen's team-first mentality at Galatasaray.

What Buruk said

Immediately after the incident, the former Besiktas midfielder was cavalier, saying that nothing happened. However, in his most recent media appearance, he was more forthcoming, detailing how Mourinho hurt him.

"I took the blow; some groups, looking at me falling, will almost say 'Well done' to the man. I am keeping quiet because I really don't want to prolong the matter,” Buruk said.

"Nobody would expect to be physically treated in that position. Who would expect it anyway! I'm not calculating my reaction while falling! The guy scratched my face with his nails.

“He made a violent move, and it hurt! If I had acted differently there, I would have been penalized too. If I had stayed on my feet, I would have been suspended for maybe 10 games."
