‘My heart is with you’ - Ashleigh Plumptre send heartfelt message to Super Falcons team
Nigerian Women’s team qualified for the Olympics for the first time in 16 years after several attempts.
Randy Waldrum’s team will open their 2024 Olympic campaign against Brazil as they look to qualify from one of the toughest groups in the competition.
They will also face Japan and Spain in their Group C clash and will be hoping to emulate the 1996 Nigeria Olympic team.
Plumptre message to Super Falcons
Ashleigh Plumptre has wished the Super Falcons the very best in their quest for gold at the Olympics.
The defender was left out of Randy Waldrum’s squad after sustaining a knee injury that later required surgery.
The Suadi Arabian star posted on her official X account saying, “Wishing this group the very best as they start their Olympic journey tonight. My heart is with you 💚🇳🇬 @NGSuper_Falcons.”

Having chosen to change her nationality, Plumptre has been a crucial member of the Falcons team since the World Cup, where she led Nigeria's qualifying campaign for the Olympics.
However, she was unable to partake in the final qualifying game against South Africa, as she had suffered a foot injury with her club, Al-Nassr, and had to undergo surgery.
