Nigeria 4-0 Algeria: Flamingos take 1st leg advantage in FIFA U-17 women's World Cup qualifier

Nigeria's youth women's national team known as the Flamingos returned to action on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

The team led by Bankole Olowookere recorded a comfortable 4-0 win in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Nigeria defeated South Africa 3-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria in the first leg, then 2-0 at Ikenne-Remo in the previous round.

The Flamingos went ahead as early as the first minute through Queen Joseph.

Zainab Raji doubled Nigeria's lead in the 13th minute with a well taken goal.

Queen Joseph scored her second of the game in the 17th minute for Nigeria's third.

The Flamingos had a comfortable three goal advantage at the break.

In the second half, there was only one goal scored by Aishat Animashaun in the 90th minute.

With the victory, the Flamingos got one-hand on the ticket to the upcoming 2025 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.
