Nigeria vs South Africa: Super Eagles legend, Kanu, rallies support for the team ahead of Semi-final clash

With just two games standing between the team and the prestigious title, Kanu's words have ignited a wave of optimism among fans and players alike. 

The two-time African player of the year took to X (formerly Twitter) to show his support for the Super Eagles. He wrote: "KAN U BELIEVE IT, YES I DO. KAN U believe it? 

"Just two games to go to the #afcon2023 trophy 🏆 Super Eagles 🦅 we are behind you to the end," rallying support for the Super Eagles ahead of their semi-final tie with South Africa. 

Nigeria is aiming for a fourth AFCON title, with their last title coming back in 2013 in South Africa.

The Super Eagles have proved doubters wrong, as their form coming into this tournament left many people writing them off.  

A 1-1 draw in the opener against Equatorial Guinea set the tone for Jose Peseiro’s side before a statement 1-0 victory over hosts Ivory Coast was followed by another 1-0 win over Guinea Bissau in the final group game to finish second in their group, setting up a round of 16 tie with arch-rivals Cameroon. 

The Eagles dispatched the indomitable Lions 2-0 before beating Angola 1-0 in the quarter-finals to set up a semi-final date with South Africa.
