The Police Ladies responded six minutes later with a goal from Mary Berko, but the Nigerian side held on to secure the important three points.

Falconets star Shakirat Moshood was the hero as Nigeria's Bayelsa Queens defeated Ghana's Police Ladies in the CAF Women's Champions League Qualifier.

Despite the near-empty stadium, Bayelsa Queens displayed a strong performance to see out the game. The victory gives them a solid start in the regional qualifiers.

Bayelsa Queens will play their next match on Wednesday as they look to build on their strong start and move closer to securing a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament later this year.
