Nigerians have vehemently criticised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over images showing that the Super Falcons trained without proper kits for their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) match against Botswana.

The social media outcry intensified after pictures circulated showing the players in non-standard attire, as described by the fans, leading many to accuse the NFF of negligence.

Fans on social media platforms expressed their anger and disappointment, directly targeting the NFF.

Comments such as “Shame on you guys really. Una get mind post this nonsense, these girls are training without training kit, they’re using their jersey/plain white tees to train” flooded online discussions.

The Truth: Super Falcons Train in Super Eagles Away Kits

Despite the public uproar, photographic evidence from the Super Falcons’ camp in Morocco reveals that the team also retained in official Super Eagles away kits.

These white kits, identical to those worn by the men’s national team, were utilised by the Super Falcons during their final sessions.

While the initial reports suggested a complete absence of training gear, the images indicate that the team was provided with official national team apparel, albeit from the men’s contingent and another set of white top and green short as posted by the team on X.

The players' choice of wearing lighter attire, such as plain white tees, during some training sessions was reportedly due to the hot weather conditions in Morocco, rather than a lack of available kits.

The Super Falcons, who secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Tunisia in their opening match, remain focused on their WAFCON campaign.

They are set to face Botswana at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca on Thursday at 8 PM Nigerian time.
